WASHINGTON, Va - RCHS Athletics announced it will now be accepting applications for their new generation of Student Assistants to the Athletic Director (SAAD).
"The SAAD position is being filled by as many students as physically possible," said Camron Wayland, founding member of the position. "This position comes with a lot of responsibility, and if filled with the right people, can be a very enjoyable experience."
Applicants have the chance to take on one or more jobs: Event setup, Event cleanup, Event management, Announcing/PA, Journalism, Audio technology/management, Videography, Video Production, Equipment Management, Public Speaking/Commentating, and/or Social Media Relations.
"We are accepting early applications now until November 27th," said Wayland, "After that, late applicants will can submit their application either December 9th or 11th. All of these applicants, whether submitting in November or December, will be guaranteed interview spots."
Any RCHS student in 8-11 grades is automatically considered as an applicant. Parents are encouraged to have their child apply to be a SAAD member.
"Even though sports won't start until late December, I plan to make sure my SAAD members will be up to date on what's to come in the season(s) of play in which they work," said Wayland. "They need to know that no job is easy, even if it seems it."
Even though this is a strange time for all, Wayland says this situation is rather special.
"The good thing about this program is that I can finally retire!" said Wayland, with a smile. "All kidding aside, I am very opportunistic and hopeful that we can fill these spots, and create a wonderful game day environment for players, coaches, and fans."
Interested 8-11 Grade Students and Parents: Forms will be available in the RCHS Front Office on Monday, November, 2nd, from 8am-3:30pm, or online via this link: https://forms.gle/gKVgLyqPxxCFsm5q7
